UBI Solutions – Container tracing
Amongst the activities of the La Poste Group is the distribution of the press, i.e. the daily distribution of newspapers and magazines to their subscribers nationwide. To do this La Poste works through its subsidiary, Viapost, with about fifty mailing services which deal with distribution and addressing operations upstream. The logistics exchanges between La Poste and these mailing services take place via high capacity plastic containers, with a unit cost close to €400.
The group got in touch with UBI Solutions because of the high number of containers belonging to La Poste that were lost each year with the mailing services. The company therefore set up a tracing solution for all Viapost containers, in order to know exactly which mailing service had the containers. If applicable, this makes it possible to invoice for a container which is not returned to La Poste.
This tracking has enabled significant savings to be made, by limiting losses and also by reducing container stocks. Finally, UBI Solutions shows a saving of €2M in three years, a 30% reduction in the stocks of logistics resources and a 95% decrease in inventory time.
